Turag river boundary demarcation starts

The Gazipur district administration has started the demarcation process of Turag river boundary on Saturday following a high court order.

The district administration started the activities at Badam area of Tongi led by Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur Mohammed Nurul Islam, officers of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Water Development Board and other concerned departments. 

“The eviction drive was initiated to demolish illegal structures from the Turag bank and adjacent areas following the high court order,” the DC said.

“The demarcation process to settle the boundaries of the river Turag was initiated and we will erect demarcation pillars inside the riverbeds and foreshore by the end of rainy season after calculating the amount of pillars needed,” he added.

Deputy Director of the Department of Local Government Abdullah Sajjat, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of Gazipur  Sebastina Rema, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Gazipur Mohammad Mohsin were also present in the drive.
