With only one released film in her coffer, Airin Sultana has established herself among her peers in Dallywood. The model-turned-actor, who started her career after winning the ‘Best Smile’ award in ‘Pantene You Got The Look 2008’ contest, has two films awaiting release: “Ei Tumi Sei Tumi” directed by Gaziur Rahman, and “Cheleti Abol Tabol Meyeti Pagol Pagol” directed by Saif Chandan. She is shooting for two other films currently, including Saif Chandan’s “Target” and “Prem Bhalobasa Noy,” a directorial venture of Zahid Reza.
Dhaka Tribune caught up with the actor to know about her recent ventures.
Tell us about your role in “Target”
I have played two different roles in the film, one that of a girl born and raised in a foreign country, and another, the wife of an auto-rickshaw driver. Its a challenge to play roles so different from each other. But I love to take challenges. I also love the combination of suspense, romance and action in movies.
So how did you overcome the challenge of playing a double role?
The film’s shooting is still underway, so I don’t think it will be appropriate to use the word ‘overcome’ now. I can describe the experience once the shooting is completed. That being said, the experience of whatever we did so far was satisfactory. I got the support of my director, co-stars and crew.
What about your role in “Prem Bhalobasa Noy?”
In the film I am playing the role of a girl named Jenny. It is a romantic action thriller.
What do you usually look for in movie roles?
When I do a movie, I first concentrate on the artists and crew members, people on the scenes and behind. So obviously, my first priority is the people I work with. Secondly, I concentrate on the script and the character I am going to play in the film.
