At least five people were killed in road accidents in Faridpur and Sirajganj districts yesterday.
Our Faridpur correspondent reports: Three people were killed and five others injured as cow-laden truck turned turtle in Piarpur area under Sadar upazila.
The dead were identified as Thandu Sheikh, 32, Shawkat Bepari and Litu Matabber, 40. Police said a Dhaka-bound cow-laden truck fell into road side ditch hit an electric poll when the driver of the truck lost control over the steering around 11:30pm, leaving its driver and helper dead on the spot.
Later, local people Litu electrocuted when he was trying to rescue the other people.
Seven cows were also killed.
Sirajganj correspondent said two fish traders were crushed under the wheels a truck at Bus Stand area in Belkuchi upazila.
The deceased were identified as Gurupad Hawlader, 43, and Prakash Hawlader, 37.
Police and local people said, a Enayetpur-bound good-laden truck run over them when they were gossiping beside the road around 6:45am in the area.
Both of them died on the spot.
Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Belkuchi police station confirmed the incident.
