Jubo League leader shot dead in Noakhali

A local Jubo League leader has been shot dead at Palpara village near a bridge of Deuti union under Sonaimuri upazila.

The deceased was identified as Md Arif Hossain, 30, joint secretary of Amishapara union Jubo League.

Quoting the locals, Sonaimuri police station OC Ashraful Islam said a group of miscreants stopped Arif and shot him while he was returning home from a local bazar around 11:30pm by a motorbike.

Hearing his screams, locals rushed to the spot and took him to Sonaimuri upazila health complex where the on duty doctor declared him dead.

Following his death, the activists of Awami League and Jubo League vandalised four shops at Doinnapur bazar.

On information, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.

Sonapur Union Parishad Chairman Md Kamruzzaman claimed that the ruling party activists vandalised his house.

The body was sent to Noakhali Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
