Piprabidya team goes for alternative promotions

Update : 06 Sep 2014, 07:41 PM

Mostafa Sarwar Farooqi, known for his atypical directorial tastes, is soon going to introduce the debutant hero of his upcoming feature film through a fun video, ridiculing the hero stereotypes seen in the industry.

“Hero Hoite Ar Ki Laage” is part of a months-long promotional campaign directed towards creating hype among movie buffs before Piprabidya (Ant Story), Farooki’s fifth feature film, gets its theatrical release on October 24.

Noor Imran Mithu plays the central role in the film.

While talking to Dhaka Tribune, Farooqi said: “Noor Imran Mithu is not like other conventional heroes. He is like most of us. A commoner, you can say. The video presents him in a hilarious way, with Mithu emulating conventional heroes of the film industry.”

“When we were thinking about introducing Mithu to the audience, we decided to go for something like this, which people will remember for a long time.”

Band Chirkutt made a song for the video which will uploaded on the Facebook page of Chabial any day soon, Farooqi added, refusing to detail the tactics of his promotional campaign. “There are more surprises!”

“Piprabidya,” which was premiered in several international film festivals, is about unemployed young people who live in Dhaka city, which they think of as a “big pie” and become desperate to have their shares.
