Over 70,000 Bangladeshis receive Hajj visa

More than 70 thousand Bangladeshi pilgrims have received Hajj visa from the Saudi Arabian embassy in Dhaka at per the last count yesterday.

This year, out of a total number of 98,799 applicant, the Hajj office at the Ministry of Religious Affair (MoRA) has already submitted 93,500 applications.

Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, MoRA Director (Hajj) Md Mizanur Rahman said that the ministry hopes in getting 90% of the applications approved by this week.

Meanwhile, a total of 23,182 pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia till 5th September. Among them, 21,769 came through private arrangements while the rest were under government arrangement.

One female pilgrim, Masuda Khatun, 82, from Chapainababgonj, died after arriving in Macca on 1st September. Her Hajj agent was Ahsan Air Travels.

Apart from that, more than 100 pilgrims lodged complaints of lost luggage. Of them, 31 luggage were recovered and 21 of them were handed over to their respective owners.
