Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is paying a two-day official visit to Bangladesh on Saturday at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The visit is taking place after fourteen years since the then prime minister Yoshiro Mori visited Bangladesh in 2000.
During the visit, the Japanese prime minister would hold official talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and would call on President Md Abdul Hamid, amongst other programmes.
In addition, Abe will address the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Forum jointly organised by Bangladesh Board of Investment, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Japan External Trade Organisation to promote trade between Bangladesh and Japan and attract Japanese investment in Bangladesh.
This is the return visit by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in quick succession of Sheikh Hasina’s official visit to Japan in May this year.
It is evident from the outcome of Hasina’s visit to Japan that Japan is very keen in expanding and deepening ‘Comprehensive Partnership’ in almost all areas of our bilateral, economic, social and cultural relations.
