The misery days of the hockey players in the unhygienic hostel has finally come to an end as the newly renovated hostel was inaugurated at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium yesterday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder, along with Nasir A Choudhury, founding managing director and adviser of Green Delta Insurance Company Limited inaugurated the hostel for the national hockey players. The guests then visited the renovated hostel rooms situated in the southern part of the second floor of the stadium.
The renovation work was carried out by the Bangladesh Hockey Federation with the financial assistance from Green Delta who provided Tk5.2m for the modernisation of the hostel rooms. However, it should be mentioned that the expenses crossed Tk5.7m.
“The Minister and the Green Delta officials expressed their satisfaction while they also assured of providing the extra money spent,” said Rafiul Haque, spokesperson for BHF president Enamul Bari.
