Two workers of ready made garment factory died as fire spread at their residence at Nayanpur area in Gazipur on Wednesday evening.
The deceased are identified as Khairul Islam,35 son of Hamid Doptori from Valuka of Mymensingh and Abdus Samad, 38 son of Rais Uddin hailed from Sakhipur of Tangail.
The workers used to work at Ridisha Spinning mills at Nayanpur and they were tenant of a house owned by Siddiqur Rahman of the same locality.
Station officer of Fire service and civil defense of Sripur ( maona), Tasarof Hussain told that, An electric short circuit initiated fire in the house of Siddikur Rahman at Nayanpur Industrial area. The fire disseminated throughout the colony at a brisk pace. Two tenant of the house tried to separate a television from a cable connection but as the cable was electrocuted, they died instantly.
10 rooms of that house and furnitures which were kept in those rooms are burned down which is estimated as worth taka 3 lacks primarily.
The fire was doused at about 8:30 pm.
