India has no information about any fugitive convict of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman killing allegedly hiding in the neighbouring country, State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said.
The minister told reporters after a meeting with the Indian Home Secretary Anil Goswami at his secretariat office on Wednesday.
The Indian secretary met Bangladeshi Junior Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to inform the progress of three day home secretary level meeting started from Tuesday.
“Goswami informed us that they are not getting the convicted fugitives killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in India,” Kamal said.
India wanted to know the specific whereabouts of Bangabandhu's fugitive killers allegedly hidden in the country. They have tried to find the killers according to the request of Bangladesh, he added.
“The Indian secretary requested us to give them specific information about the killers. They are also interested to give them back. They will give them back arresting from the country, if we can provide specific information,” Kamal also said.
The issues of border crisis like border conflicts and killing, trading and agriculture were discussed, Kamal said.
The meeting decided to hold a Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate level meeting every month.
The DC's of 19 border districts of Bangladesh and Indian border areas will organise and hold the meeting. They will suggest the government to solve the problems, he said.
