Writ seeks ban on law faculty in private universities

Update : 03 Sep 2014, 11:30 AM

A writ has been filed with the High Court seeking ban on opening law faculty in private universities without permission of the Supreme Court (SC) and Bangladesh Bar Council.

Advocate Dr Eunus Ali Akand filed the writ petition on Wednesday, reports BSS.

Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC), education secretary, SC registrar and bar council were made respondents.

In the writ, Akand pleaded for issuing rule on UGC chairman and education secretary.

He also sought explanation as to why directives will not be passed upon them to impose ban on the opening of law faculty in private universities and admitting students in LLB and LLM courses without prior permission of SC or bar council.
