From now on the Ministry of Communications will be known as Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, as the government decided to change the name of the ministry.
A proposal from the cabinet division to change the name of the ministry was approved by the president and the prime minister on Tuesday.
Confirming the change, Cabinet Secretary Muhammad Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told reporters that the cabinet division would issue a gazette notification on Wednesday, after completion of all the due procedures.
According to the proposal, the name of the Roads Division will also be changed to Road Transport and Highways Division while the name of the Bridges Division would remain unchanged.
Earlier, the government, upgrading the Railway Division of the Ministry of Communication, created a new ministry named Ministry of Railways.
