Workers of a ceramic factory blocked Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Nayanpur area of Sreepur for an hour, protesting the death of their colleague in a road accident.

Meanwhile, the angry workers vandalised 10 vehicles on the highway and set fire to the accident engulfed bus.

Mamun Mia, supervisor of sanitary section of RAK Ceramic, was seriously injured as a bus hit him when he was crossing road in Nayanpur area around 8:45am. He died on way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Mawna police station Officer-in-Charge Sanowar Hossain said the workers of the factory took to the street following the death of their fellow.

"A two-kilometre long tailback has been created on both sides of the highway because of the blockade," he added.

The OC said police officials from Sheerpur and Mawa highway polices along with Gazipur Industrial police went to the spot and removed the workers from the highway around 11am.
