More than 150 unidentified Awami League leaders and activists have been sued over a clash between two rival groups in Kaliakoir upazila of the district.
The clash was erupted at a programme in the national mourning day on Saturday evening at Dr Jalil Uddin High school near Gosatra area under Kaliakoir upazila.
Liberation war affairs secretary of Ataboho Union Awami League Mozibur Rahman filed the case with Kaliakoir police station in this connection on Sunday.
Assistant Sub Inspector of Kaliakoir police station Aftab Uddin confirmed the matter.
However, locals caught two men and handed them over to Kaliakoir police who was allegedly involved in the incident, he said.
Sources said, on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s 39th death anniversary and also the national mourning day, a discussion meeting was held at Dr Jalil Uddin high school premises on Saturday evening.
Before the programme, the organiser selected former president of Ataboho Awami League Ismail Hossain as the convener of the programme instead of acting president Alal Uddin Mollah which triggered anger among the followers of Alal Uddin Mollah.
However, a group of youth led by Alal Uddin Molla riding on 50 to 60 motorcycles rushed to the spot and attacked the meeting and vandalized the place.
They also locked into a clash, leaving at least 20 AL leaders and activists injured.
The injured include, Al leader Mozibur Rahman, Aminul Islam, Jubaleague leader Ibrahim Khaled, Taboho UP chairman M.A.Alim, Saman Uddin, Mosharraf Hossain, Abul Hossain and Dulal .
The injured were admitted in Kaliakoir upazila health complex.
