Police regret assault on DU teacher

Police have regretted their actions for assaulting a professor of Dhaka University.

Four police officials met with Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University on Sunday morning and confessed that the act sthey had done upon a university teacher was a mistake.

Samina Luthfa, assistant professor of Sociology Department, went to join with the workers’ of the Tuba garment factory of Badda who were on hunger strike to get their due wage. During the time, police assaulted Luthfa and many others.

Officer-in-charge of Badda police station M.A Jalil was accused of the assault.

He along with ADC of Ramna Zone Shibli Noman, AC of Ramna zone Anwar Hossain and Officer-in-charge of Shahbag police station Sirajul Islam met with the vice chancellor with a written application made by Jalil, in which he termed his act incorrect and inhuman and regretted for his misdeeds.

Shibly Noman told the reporters that it was a sheer misunderstanding and he hoped that the subject is settled.

However, he denied the claim of asking for pardon in that letter.
