Bangladeshi allegedly beaten to death by BSF

Update : 31 Aug 2014, 09:17 AM

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have allegedly beaten a Bangladeshi cowherd to death at Boikari border under the sadar upazila.

The deceased is Ahad Ali, 32, son of Ujir Ali of Chaygharia village.

Jhaudanga Union Parishad Chairman Rafiqul Isalm said: “BSF personnel beat him to death on Sunday morning while he went to bring his cow back.”

Later, the BSF members left his body at Boikari border.

“The body has been taken to his house,” said the UP chairman.

However, Satkhira 38 BGB Battalion acting commander Major Najir Ahmed said they sent a local BGB team to Ahad’s house. But his family claimed that he had died of a heart attack.

"The BSF also denied the matter while we contacted them over the killing," he added.
