A six-year-old child has drowned in the floodwater in Nikli upazila of the district. The deceased is identified as Sania Akter, daughter of Saikul Mia, hails from Patruki village in Nikli upazila.
Mahbubul Alam, officer-in-charge of Nikli police station confirmed the death to the Dhaka Tribune. According to police and local sources, Sania drowned nearby floodwater of her house in absence of other family members while she went to take bath on Saturday morning.
After searching a long time, relatives found her floating body on waters around 12pm.
