Eight shops have been gutted in a fire that broke out in Kadamtali point under South Surma upazila of Sylhet.
South Surma Fire Service Station Leader Syed Faruk Mia told the Dhaka Tribune that the fire originated at Fenci Aluminium Crockeries Store from an electric short circuit at Kadamtali point around 2:30pm on Friday.
"The fire soon engulfed to seven adjacent shops and damaged valuables worth Tk55 lakh," he added.
Fire Fighters' units from South Surma station rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after 50 minutes.
"No causalities were reported," the official added.
