A person has been killed as a salt-loaded trawler capsized in the Meghna river near Haimchar area of Chandpur.
The deceased was identified as Ershad, hailed from Mirsarai of Chittagong.
Haimchar police station Officer-in-Charge Moniruzzaman told the Dhaka Tribune that the salt-loaded trawler "MV Osman" capsized in the river after its engine had broken down because of strong currents around 11am.
Local fishermen rescued eight persons from the trawler.
The body was kept at Haimchar hospital.
