Mashrafe named captain for Asian games

Update : 26 Aug 2014, 04:36 PM

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has been named as the captain of the Bangladesh cricket side taking part in the 17th Asian games in Incheon, South Korea.

The tournament will commence on September 19.

Bangladesh clinched gold in the previous edition of Asian games in cricket. The cricket discipline was introduced for the first time in the previous edition of Asian games.

The matches are played in T-20 format.

Mashrafe Mortaza captained Tigers in one Test and seven One Day Internationals (ODIs) between 2009 and 2010, however, injury meant he was in and out of the side.

The fast bowler also known as 'Narail Express' has been the source of inspiration among the cricket lovers of the nation as he has been always at the optimum of his try despite numerous injuries.

Even in the wretched tour of Bangladesh to West Indies, the lanky fast bowler has been very impressive.

Bangladesh has been winless in test matches and one day internationals in this calendar year.

Last time in 2003, they were winless for a whole calendar year.
