A clinker-loaded cargo vessel has capsized after an oil-loaded vessel hit it in the Meghna river on Tuesday morning.
However, the staff of the vessel managed to swim ashore.
Puranbazar police outpost In-charge Mahbub Molla said cargo vessel "MV Chitalmari", which was carrying 1,300 tons of clinker, sank in the river as "MV Hekmat" hit it around 7:30am.
“We have held MV Hekmat and detained its staff,” he added.
Members of coastguard and fire service are conducting operations to rescue the capsized vessel.
The vessel has not been found till filling of the report at around 12pm.
