Bangladesh Coast Guard recovered 2 lakh pieces of Yaba tablets from a trawler in Kafco area in the estuary of the Karnaphuli river of Chittagong on Sunday. BCG zonal Commander Shahidul Islam said being tipped off about a consignment of contraband Yaba tablets; a team of the BCG halted a wooden made trawler in the river around 2:00am on Sunday. Sensing the presence of the BCG team, the boatmen and the drug peddlers jumped into the river and swam ashore to escape arrest, he said. The Yaba tablets worth about Tk10 crore were found in 20 packets in an empty oil-container on the trawler, the coast guard official said.
