Uttara is the most popular area for property buyers and sellers in Dhaka, according to a new study.
Gulshan came in the second place, followed by Bashundhara Baridhara, Dhanmondi and Mirpur, according to analysis carried out by an online real estate marketplace, Lamudi.
“Uttara, the Dhaka’s biggest satellite town, has topped the list of the most-trendy spots in the local real estate market,” it said.
Launched in 2013 in Bangladesh, Berlin-based Lamudi is a global property portal focusing exclusively on emerging markets.
The number of properties at Uttara listed on the Lamudi Bangladesh website by developers and individual sellers is 961 and growing. Lamudi’s Uttara properties have been viewed by a total of 60,113 visitors over the last six months.
Gulshan, the most affluent area of Dhaka and home to the majority of Dhaka’s embassies and high commissions, has a total of 662 properties listed on the Lamudi website, with a total of 28,506 interested buyers and sellers viewing these listings on the site.
Bashundhara Baridhara drew the attention of property seekers in Dhaka for its huge open space with public utilities and civic amenities. With 383 properties listed on the Lamudi website for sell and rent, the listings had a total of 27,454 views in the past six months.
Rajesh Grover, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Lamudi Bangladesh, said the figures showed that new areas were emerging as Dhaka’s top places to live.
“The real estate market is getting more exciting for property hunters, as real estate developers expand their focus to different parts of Bangladesh. This is obviously great news since a lot of different choices are now available in the market for the customers.”
Dhanmoni that was developed in the 1950s was spotted four on the list of hottest spots in Dhaka real estate market for its amenities including hospitals, malls, schools, banks, offices and universities. Lamudi recorded 20,003 views on the properties listed from Dhanmondi since the last six months.
Mirpur, which is fast becoming the top choice of middle class property seekers in Dhaka for its unique location and the easy connections with other parts of the capital, was placed at number five on the list.
Lamudi currently has a total of 764 properties listed from Mirpur, with 14,079 visitors viewing these properties on the site.
The fast-growing platform Lamudi is currently available in 28 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, with more than 500,000 real estate listings across its global network.
