The local people of Kurigram yesterday formed a human chain urging the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to save Sonahat Bridge and the road connecting the Sonahat land port with the highway.
General people and the students from the district gathered in front of the press club in Kurigram around 12pm yesterday.
The meeting was followed by a rally which circled the major roads in the district.
The speakers at the meeting demanded that the authority take immediate measures to save Sonahat land port and its connecting bridge from the heavy current created by the onrush of water coming down from the upstream.
