More than thirty million people in Bangladesh have now been suffering from different type of kidney diseases due to adulteration in food items.
Speakers at a seminar made the disclosure on Saturday, reports BSS.
Nari Oikya Prishad organised the seminar with its president Lutfunnesa Khan in the chair.
They also cautioned against excessive use of pesticide.
Unplanned use of pesticides is destroying the fertility of land that is hampering production of crops, they said.
Sayed Nurul Alam, chairman of Dhaka University Pharmacy Department, Prof Dr Sitesh C Bachar, magistrate Rokonuddowla, BSTI's director Kamal Prashad Das, deputy secretary of commerce ministry Shah Alam, BMA leader Dr Alauddin, among others, spoke at the seminar.
Chief scientific officer of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute Syed Nurul Alam and Dr. Sitesh C Bachar presented separate keynote papers.
