1 killed in Sunamganj land dispute

A person has been killed and 25 others have been injured in a land dispute between two rival groups in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district on Thursday morning.

Akbar Ali, 30, was killed when two rival groups locked into a clash over Khas land (government owned land) at Assampur village in the morning.

Locals said supporters of Akbar Ali and Askir Mia the village locked into a hour-long clash with each other with locally made weapons that killed Akbar and injured the others.

On information, police went to the spot and sent the body to Sunamganj Sadar morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the injured have been admitted to local Upazila Health Complex.

Chhatak police station Officer-in-Charge Shahjalal Munshi said: “They locked into the clash centering a dispute over Khas land. The situations has been brought under control.”
