Bhasha Matin hospitalised

Update : 18 Aug 2014, 07:57 PM

Language activist Abdul Matin was admitted to ICU at Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday after he suffered a stroke that partially paralysed him.

His wife told the media yesterday evening that Matin – called Bhasha Matin for his contribution in the Language Movement – was first rushed to the National Heart Foundation in Mirpur, where doctors found about the stroke.

As the doctors there advised, Matin was then transferred to DMCH where his electrocardiography (ECG) was recorded.

A medical board comprising experts is due to decide the procedure for Matin’s treatment. Matin, who is now 88, has been suffering from old age complications for the past 17 years.
