UP Chairman among 200 sued for snatching criminal

A ruling party leader, who is also the chairman of Karpara union parishad in Ramganj of the district, has been sued along with 20 named and another 200 unnamed for involvement in an attempt to snatch away a murder case accused from police custody.

Ramganj Police Station Sub Inspector Md Ruhul Amin filed a case against Mujibul Haque Mujib, president of Karpara union unit Awami League along with 20 named and 200 others unnamed. 

Police arrested Mujib and six others accused for an attack on police and snatching Saiful Islam Mithu, the prime accused in sensational Juba League leader Saiful murder case on Sunday afternoon.

Later on Monday, police produced them before the court and the court ordered to send the accused to jail.

Lokman, OC of Ramganj police station, said: “Mujib was arrested as he attacked the police along with three of his fellows and tried to snatch the arrestee. The incident took place when we were on our way back to the police station on foot.”
