Krishna Janmashtami, a festival commemorating the birth of Hindu god Krishna, is being celebrated across the country on Sunday.
The country's Hindu community is celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna with festivity and religious fervour. The day is a public holiday.
Different socio-cultural and religious organisations, including Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Mohanagar Sarbojoneen Puja Committee, have chalked out various programmes to mark the day.
The progammes include puja, Geeta Jagna, Kirtan, discussions and peace processions.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted the Hindu community on the occasion in their separate messages.
