A female student of Cambrian School and College has allegedly committed suicide at a hostel in the capital’s Badda area on Friday.
A small note, which was estimated to be written by the student, has been recovered from the hostel.
The victim was identified as Naima Binte Nahid, 16, daughter of Syed Nahid Hasan hailing from Jessore. She was a student of class 10.
The body was recovered from a room locked from the inside on the sixth floor of the girls’ hostel of the college at 53/3 Norda, said Sub-Inspector Asaduzzaman of Badda police station.
He said, the body was found hanging from the ceiling fan by a rope. “According to the note, Naima was frustrated by her poor result in a recent examination. Besides, she was having trouble with her involvement with a boy.”
The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.
