Two minor sisters have drowned in a pond at the Kalikrsnanagar village under Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj on Friday afternoon.
The deceased are Suma Akter, 8, and Ruma Akhter, 7, daughters of Shamim Miah, of the village.
Locals said the two sisters went missing on Friday afternoon. Later, locals noticed them floating in a pond near their house.
Officer-in-Charge Abdul Basit of Madhabpur police station said: “They were rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctors declared them dead.”
