A businessman has been stabbed to death in Amlapara area of the district.
The deceased, Abul Kashem, 40, ran a fast food store in the area.
Police detained the alleged killer Azad, 40, after the incident.
Kushtia model police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Khalek said Kashem was returning home after closing his store on Thursday night when Azad obstructed him.
"At one stage of altercation, Azad stabbed Kashem with knife and fled the scene," said the OC.
Hearing Kashem's scream, locals rushed in and admitted him to Kushtia general hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Later, police detained Azad in a special drive at Dattapara.
"Azad confessed killing the businessman," OC Abdul Khalek said.
