The rail communication of Sylhet with Dhaka and Chittagong has been cut off after some slippers on the line near Amirganj station in Raipura of Narshingdi were displaced because of excessive rain.
Four passenger trains got stranded in different stations of Narsingdi since 12:30pm.
Golam Nabi Mia, station master of Amirganj railway station, told the Dhaka Tribune: "We are conducting salvage operation. It will take about two hours to restore communication."
