“The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” released on July 11 worldwide and will hit the Star Cineplex on Saturday.
20th Century Fox’s sequel to the “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” has become the seventh movie of the year to cross $500m at the global box office. That figure makes Dawn the highest grossing instalment of the Apes franchise, with its predecessor “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” having earned $481.8m back in 2011.
“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” is directed by Matt Reeves and sees Andy Serkis returning as Caesar. In the wake of a disaster that changed the world, the growing and genetically evolving apes find themselves at a critical point with the human race.
