The owner of Pinak 6 that capsized in Munshiganj with over 200 passengers on board on August 4 was arrested in Chittagong early Wednesday.
Mifta Uddin, commanding officer of RAB 7, said: “A joint team of the unit and RAB 11 arrested Abu Bakar Siddique from a house in Agrabad Housing area of Chittagong city around 3:30am.”
Abu Bakar, 60, went into hiding after the incident that took place near Mawa ghat.
“He has been shifted to the RAB headquarters in Dhaka. After holding a press conferrence there, he will be sent to Munshiganj,” the official added.
So far, bodies of 45 passengers of capsized launch have been recovered from different rivers while 62 are still missing.
