Japan to invest $1.78m in Comilla EPZ

Fully Papanese owned JB Networks Company Limited will invest US$1.78 million to establish a leather products plant in Comilla EPZ.

A 2350 square meter standard factory building has been allotted by BEPZA to this company in accordance with the reflection of MoU between BEPZA and JETRO which was signed in presence of Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina in Tokyo, reports BSS.

At least 1,078 Bangladeshi nationals will produce annually 1 million pieces of different types of leather products in this factory. Mentionable products are Leather Strap, Grip, Camera Bags, Camera lens Case, Leather Leash and different type of bags and collar etc.

An agreement to this effect was signed between Mr. Sayed Nurul Islam, Member (Investment Promotion) of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and Mr. Fujikawa Masaru, Managing Director of JB Networks Co. Ltd. at BEPZA Complex in Dhaka on Monday.

Major General Mohd. Habibur Rahman Khan, ndc,psc, Executive Chairman and Mr. Kei Kawano, Country Representative, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Bangladesh attended the signing ceremony.

Among others, Mr. Md. Shawkat Nabi, Secretary, Mr, AZM Azizur Rahman, General Manager (Investment Promotion), Mrs. Nazma Binte Alamgir, General Manager (Public Relations) of BEPZA and Mr. Suzuki Mikio, Chief Executive Officer of JB Networks were present there.
