Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan yesterday suspended four officials of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Chittagong, on charge of breach of duty.
The suspended officials are Executive Engineer Sajedur Rahman, Deputy Director (Port) Alamgir Hossain, Assistant Director Nayan Shil and another Assistant Director Mohammad Selim, said Joint Director (Conservancy and Pilotage) Akkas Ali of the BIWTA Chittagong office.
During a visit there around 9am, the minister gave the suspension order to the four as he found that the officials were absent as per the instruction of being present at the time of the minister’s visit.
Afterwards, the Shipping Minister visited the Western Marine Shipyard.
