State University of Bangladesh celebrates 3rd convocation

The State University of Bangladesh (SUB) has celebrated its 3rd Convocation to confer degrees to graduating students at Campus premises on Monday.

The university conferred degrees to fellows of department of Business Studies, Computer Science & Engineering, Pharmacy, public health, Food & Engineering, Architecture, Law, English Literature.

Apart from conferment of degrees, four brilliant students were awarded with the Chancellor’s Gold Medal and six students received Vice Chancellor’s award.

The Education Minister Mr Nurul Islam Nahid, MP attended the convocation as chief guest and Chairman of the University Grants Commission Professor Dr A K Azad Chowdhury as convocation speaker.

President of the Board of Trustees Dr A M Shamim, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury, Treasurer Major General (rtd) Dr M Shahjahan and respective Deans of the University also attended the event.

The Convocation ceremony was conducted by the Registrar Professor AYM Ekram-ud-Daulah.

The SUB has 10 departments to offer a wide range of tailor-made courses, both at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Besides own campuses at Satmasjid road and Bijoy Campus in Kalabagan, another world class standard campus is underway to develop in Baridhara (on 300 ft wide khilkhet road in purbachal).

In the convocation message, the Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the SUB H E Md Abdul Hamid congratulated the graduating students, the parents and the university authority for their success in their endeavors.

In another message, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh H.E Sheikh Hasina said, “I appreciate State University of Bangladesh for its excellent contributions to and its continuous efforts in our commitment to building an enlightened and prosperous Bangladesh.”

Hon’ble Education Minister H E Mr Nurul Islam Nahid, MP said in his speech as chief guest, “Graduation opens the door to many opportunities and challenges. Graduates must embrace these challenges. Their willingness to struggle will lead to their successful careers. ”

Hon’ble Chairman of the University Grants Commission Professor Dr A K Azad Chowdhury said as convocation speaker, “Irrespective of changes in method of teaching and that of course curriculum, there is something very fundamental at the core of teaching and learning which withstood the test of time.”

“This includes inquisitiveness, insatiable thirst for knowledge, relentless efforts to understand and internalize it, self-confidence and to have interest in the subject of study.”

Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Dr Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury said, “I consider this certificate your birthmark that links you to the alma mater as you embark a career that I am sure will take you to newer heights.”

President of the Board of Trustees Dr A M Shamim said in his speech, “Since its inception, the SUB has been catering to the needs of the students at home and abroad by providing them with quality education at affordable cost”.
