A crack has reportedly been noticed in a building in the capital's Bangshal area on Tuesday afternoon.
Locals said the residents of the four-storied building located at Siddique Bazar area noticed the crack early Tuesday.
Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) control-room duty officer Shahjadi Sultana told the Dhaka Tribune: “Being informed, two teams of police and fire service rushed to the spot and evacuated the building around 3am.”
“But, the residents of the building again came back to their houses in the morning. Later, the police and the fire service members visited the spot again and took necessary steps to avert any incident.”
She further said: “FSCD DIG Abdul Halim visited the spot in the morning and asked the residents to vacant their flats immediately.”
According to FSCD officials floors of two adjacent houses have also developed cracks.
The Rajuk has been informed about the matter, said FSCD members.
