Three persons have died and another fell sick after taking local liquor at Koshaipara area under Gobindaganj upazila of the district early Sunday.
The deceased are Jahrul Islam, 30, son of Dulu Miah ,Ripon Miah, 30, son of Abdul Matin Mia of Boalia village of Gobindaganj and Swapan Mia, 29, of Mokamtala area of Shibganj upazila. They all were motor workers of the area.
Masud, 36, son of Anisur Rahman of Hirokpara area has been admitted to upazila health complex.
Gobindaganj upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Muhammad Shahjahan said: “They were admitted to the intensive care of the health complex after taking excessive liquor. Later they were shifted to Bogra Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College where they died under treatment."
Gobindaganj police station Officer-in-Charge ABM Jahidul Islam said: “We could not take the bodies for autopsy as the family members prevented the police officials.”
