A Bangladeshi cattle trader has been shot dead by the members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Mujibnagar border in Meherpur district on Friday night.
The deceased is Abdul Khalek, 30, son of Dhula Manik, of Majhpara village under Meherpur upazila.
Mujibnagar BGB Camp Commander Shafiqul Islam said: “The BSF troops of Sutia camp opened fire on Khaleak near main pillar no 107 while he was trying to bring cattle to Bangladesh from the Indian territory around 11:30pm, leaving him dead on the spot.”
“After the incident, BGB patrolling has been intensified in the area.”
Chuadanga 6 Battalion Commanding Officer Major Jahid told the Dhaka Tribune: “We have sent a letter to the BSF authority, protesting the incident. A flag meeting will be held at 3pm in this regard.”
