A Dhaka University student has died after a boat capsized in Goyain river at Bichnakandi of Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet.
Deceased Sajedul Haque, son of Md Fazlul Haque of Nilfamari, had recently completed his Masters degree from Accounting department of the university.
Kazi Nizam Uddin, company commander of Bichnakandi Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), said: “The deceased with his four friends were crossing the river by a boat when the boat sank around 1:30pm.”
“All his friends except him, managed to swim ashore. After searching for almost three hours, locals rescued his body from the river and took it to the BGB camp,” he added.
Gowainghat police station Officer-in-Charge (investigation) Ruhul Amin said Sajedul’s body was sent to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue.
