Seven senior bureaucrats, who have been serving as acting secretary or same status posts in separate ministries, secretariats or departments, have been promoted as secretary.
The public administration ministry issued a gazette notification promoting the additional secretaries as secretary.
The newly promoted secretaries were given the charge of the same ministry or departments after the promotion.
The acting secretaries who were promoted as secretary, are - Election Commission Secretariat’s Sirajul Islam, Housing and Public Works Ministry’s Golam Rabbani, Fisheries and Livestock Ministry’s Dr Shelina Afroza and Social Welfare Ministry’s Nasima Begum.
Planning Commission’s Acting Member SM Golam Faruque, Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center’s (BPATC) Rector Khandoker Md Iftekhar Haider and Chairman of Tariff Commission Iqbal Khan Chowdhury was also promoted as secretary and resumed their assignment in the same office.
At the same time, Planning Commission’s Member Uzzal Bikash Dutta was made officer on special duty (OSD) for enjoying his post retirement leave (PRL). His PRL will be started from August 9.
According to the ministry record, the PRL of Environment and Forest Secretary Shafiqur Rahman Patwary will also be started from August 31.
