Nine civil servants have been assigned in foreign missions to improve the commercial activities abroad. The ministry of public administration issued a gazette notification on Thursday, giving them new assignments. A joint secretary, seven deputy secretaries and a senior assistant secretary are among those appointed as commercial officers in foreign missions. They were given charges of commercial wings as economic minister, commercial counsellor and first secretary (commercial) of Bangladesh's foreign missions in nine countries. Officer on special duty (OSD) Joint Secretary Supriyo Kumar Kundu was given the assignment of economic minister for the permanent mission of Bangladesh in Geneva. All of the deputy secretaries were given the charge of commercial counsellor. Of them, Economic Relations Division’s Mohammad Hassan Arif was assigned at foreign mission in Tokyo, Japan, OSD Shaikh Akter Hossain at Washington DC in USA, Energy and Mineral Resources Division’s Syed Masum Ahmed Chowdhury at Berlin in Germany, Finance Division’s Mahful Alam Khan at Beijing in China, BTRC’s Director AKM Rafique Ahammad at Dubai in UAE, prime minister’s political advisor’s personal secretary Ashfakul Islam Babul at Moscow in Russian Federation and Governance Innovation Unit’s Director Mohammad Naved Shafiullah at Madrid in Spain.
