Representatives from about 50 development organisations have underscored the need for combined efforts to combat inequality and injustice in society through better coordination among stakeholders at all levels.
Officials from grassroots organisations working with ActionAid Bangladesh in 26 districts across the country made the observation at a meeting in the capital on Wednesday when sharing their successes and challenges, says a media release.
The participants discussed a number of challenges that are affecting the quality of overall development interventions. The challenges include poor governance at different levels of the public administration, corruption of government officials, inadequate resources, lack of capacity of the duty-bearers, lack of transparency within the organisations and integration within the working organizations as well as poor monitoring and impact assessment systems.
Later, the representatives met with ActionAid Bangladesh’s Executive Board and also former caretaker government adviser M Hafizuddin Khan, among others.
