Tuba workers can receive payment Thursday

The only 39% of Tuba Group workers received partial dues offered by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on Wednesday.

The remaining 61% workers will receive dues Thursday.

Payment distribution will begin at 9am and will be continued till 6pm.

On Wednesday, only 583, out of 1,458 workers, received the partial dues from the BGMEA, said BGMEA official Rafiqul Islam.

BGMEA officials started distributing the dues of Tuba workers from 10am and continued till 9pm.

At least 1,200 workers from five factories under the Tuba Group have been on a hunger strike for ten consecutive days at Hossain Market in the capital’s Badda area, demanding the payment of three months’ wages, overtime and Eid bonuses.
