Abducted boy rescued within 4hrs

Police rescued a six-year-old boy within four hours of his abduction in Bayezid area of Chittagong city early Tuesday.

The boy was rescued from the jungle near Bayezid area. Two abductors were also arrested at that time. 

The rescued boy is Farhan Labib Omar, son of Shafayet Hossain Liton, owner of an aluminum shop.

The arrestees are Mahfuzur Rahman, 24, staff of Shafayet’s shop, and his friend Rasel, 20, Officer-in-Charge Babul Chandra Banik of Bayezid police station told the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: "Mahfuzur abducted Farhan from their residence in Rumaghat area under Kotwali police station in the port city around 8pm on Monday.

"Mahfuzur called Farhan out of home to take chocolates from him. Later, Mahfuz and Rasel took the boy into a jungle near Ononya Residential Area under Bayezid police station and demanded Tk7 lakh as ransom from the victim’s father over mobile phone."

Following the incident, Shafayet informed the police and the law enforcers after detecting their location rescued the boy around 12:30m.

A case was lodged with Kotwali police station in this connection.

The arrestees were handed over to Kotwali police station.
