Update : 05 Aug 2014, 07:56 AM

Survey vessel Jarip 10 has started from Chittagong to join in locating the sunken launch in Padma river.

Mahmudul Haque, director (administration) of Chittagong Port, told the Dhaka Tribune that Jarip 10 was heading towards Padma.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner of Munshiganj Saiful Hasan Badol said Jarip 11 left Chittagong to join the search operation around 9am.

The divers' team of Navy, fire service and coast guard are conducting a search and rescue operation.

The rescue ship Nirvik reached the spot around 8:30am on Tuesday while Rostom reached at 9:30pm on Monday.

However, the location of the sunken launch has not yet been spotted.

The rescuers are trying to trace the capsized launch with the help of "Eco-sounder" and "side-scan sonar".

Rescue operation is being hampered due to strong waves in the river, BIWTC Director Md Hossain said.

According to the government's estimation, the number of missing in the launch capsize is 127.

However, the number is more than 127 as per unofficial counts.
