The district administration deployed additional forces in the Kharkhauda area on Monday to diffuse communal tension after a 20-year-old woman complained of forced conversion at a madrasa and subsequent gang-rape.
Meerut superintendent of police (rural) MM Beg confirmed arrest of three out of four accused named in the complaint, including a woman and a girl.
He said raids are on to nab the Urdu teacher of the madrasa.
The alleged forced conversion took place at a madrasa in Dautai village of neighbouring Hapur on July 30, a day after Eid.
The woman worked as a teacher in the madrasa at Sarawa village, 40 km from Dautai and around 25 km from Meerut.
