Local people have rescued two children after 26 hours of abduction in Gazipur on Friday.
They also caught one of the abductors and handed him over to police after a heavy beating.
The arrestee was identified as Md Shah Alam, 25, son of Imran Ali of Dubajora village under Mithaban Upazila of Kishorgonj district.
Sub-Inspector Jashim Uddin of Joydebpur police station confirmed of the situation to the Dhaka Tribune.
On Thursday at about 11.00am, Md Shah Alam, a relative of Idrish Ali abducted the two children Shahin, 07, son of Idrish Ali and Imran, 08, son of Asar Uddin by tempting them with food.
Later he took them to an unknown place and detained them.
On Friday, Shah Alam returned to his house at Khaikoir area.
However, after sensing doubtful behavior, local people caught Shah Alam and interrogated him.
After receiving a heavy beating, he confessed of his involvement in the abduction and gave information of the two abducted children.
Based on the given information, locals and relatives of the abducted children rescued them from Chanda Chawrasta area.
Having been informed, police rushed in and rescued injured Shah Alam from the anger of the local people.
A case has been filed in this connection.
